GOLD MEDAL WINNER

International Wine & Spirits Competition 2019

A gin distillery in Speyside has sailed to the top of its class with their Avva Navy Strength Gin.  Established in 2016, Moray Distillery Ltd is owned and ran by Distiller Jill Brown, Elgin.  Focusing on premium small batches the distillery have a range of distilled gins and liqueurs.  This is the first time the Avva Navy Strength Gin had been entered in the IWSC Awards, which are a long established and well respected benchmark in the wine and spirits sector.  Jill commented that ‘we are just delighted, this really is a tremendous gin and to win a gold on our first time entering is credit to all the hard work that goes in to ensure our spirits are top of the class.  Would also like to congratulate all the other Scottish Gin brands who collected medals.  We’re right in the middle of a busy events calendar so this has been a lovely surprise.’

Avva Scottish Gin is distilled and bottled in Elgin on a 250l copper still called Jessie Jean affectionately referred to as JJ.  She was made by Speyside Copperworks in Elgin and was the UK’s first Scottish made Gin still.  Many other Scottish brands have followed Jill’s lead to source equipment from Scotland.
